Professor Claudia Tyler is a research scientist. In the science business, your name is your brand, and the largest visibility you have is through your website. Second best is your attendance at conferences, but the website remains the easiest and most wide-reaching way to put a face on to your research and teaching.
Prof. Tyler's research deals primarily with California chaparral communities and oak tree recruitment, but looks at larger landscape-level processes like fire and how they affect the areas she studies. I took a logical cue from that, and used the colors of the California coast, toned down, to construct her site. The panoramic image at the bottom of the page is one of my own, and is the Ventura County back-country.
The site is very simple, with only four static pages. Because the client had basic HTML knowledge and used Dreamweaver prior to the new site design, we chose not to implement a CMS. The site is a set of static pages in a Dreamweaver template, which allows her to easily make changes, and keep her CV fresh.
